Far Away From You (Take Me)

from "Borrowed Blue iii" by J "Jay" Joseph Sharp

about

Original (mostly) instrumental demo of a song I still play to this day. A new version will probably wind up on a new acoustic EP...

And 15 years later
I'm back to say while it DIDN'T make it onto an acoustic EP
(THAT project became the 9 volume "Songs in the Key of Jay Sharp"
THIS particular take was re-dubbed "It's a long way to Pennsylvania"
which came out in 2012 (and that version also features Smokin' Joe Haines on Bass, who was, of course the 2nd Bass player- yes we had two at the same time... go figure. Compare that to the shortage of bass players we had as a problem for A Black Tie Affair just a year or two prior to his joining the group)
SO Joe was over and I showed him this track and probably mentioned something along the lines of "WOW IT WOULD SOUND SO MUCH BETTER WITH YOU ON BASS" or something to that effect.

SO... on the second SECOND HAND COKE album, having the Birth of E-Dittlez (the 2009 SHC debut LP) rejected by its namesake, AND that album ALSO being released on DVD in a DVD case designed with art collages and formatted with a lovely professional layout from one of the in-house staff at Simon and Shuster- EVERY song has a music video. And the album was a rush job, that was labored over for two weeks - SOLID
to be ready in time for presentation as the birthday gift it was intended to be.
After that rejection, and heartache, it's really no wonder that the follow up would mostly be a collection and rehashing of odds and ends and mostly discared demos.
They say you can't polish a turd-
or you "can" (or something to the effect)
but it's just still a turd at the end of the day

So yes. I love this track so much I released it twice,
Do check out Volume 2 (the second hand coke sophomore slump)
I re-visited it last week and its actually WAY better than I remembered.
It DOES hold up jaysharp.bandcamp.com/album/v20
