about

Recorded over the second weekend in June 2011 (by Alex Perez @ Brokenland in Gowanus Brooklyn),

"A Black Tie Affair" is the long-awaited follow up to their debut "Return to Spiderland" which was released, released again and re-released and re-re-re-released again and again multiple times over multiple incantations and on several different labels (as demos, EPs, singles, expanded singles, CD-Rs and finally as a self-released compilation album [here on bandcamp]) throughout the early aughts over the painfully prolonged demise of the Stereolites.

Originally conceived as a two-piece band in 2005 + performing all over the five boroughs and tri-state area, ABTA would eventually take on shared members of the Mighty JSE and would also, rather uniquely share lead vocal/frontman duties between three different men (Sharp, Fixxy and D'Amaso) and one woman (the Virgin Whore). All (Four) of whom are present and can be heard here on the "ABTA" album.

(All songs performed live in the studio by A Black Tie Affair)

A Black Tie Affair are:

Jay Sharp- Vocals, Guitar, Tambourine, Songwriting, Lyrics, Dad Jokes.
Patric Valentine- Drums, Puns, Vocals, Destruction, Songwriting.
Alex "Nappy" Gonzalez- Bass, Vocals, Aromatics, Songwriting.
the Virgin Whore- Vocals, Innuendo, Shakers, Boobs, Harmony.
Earnest Ernie D'Amaso- Vocal stylings, Hair Stylings, Howls, Screams.
Fixx Invictus- Vocals, Lyrics, Conquering, Fear Mongering.
Shey Weaver- Bass, Guitar, Cigarette rolling, Handclaps.

Don't let all the names fool you! This album was captured live in it's beautiful, raw, introspective, spontaneous glory primarily as 'a power-trio'

As the core group on this recording was Nappy + Pat holding down the Rhythm and Jay playing guitar live with the three all singing backup vocals (live). The only things overdubbed afterward were the lead vocal tracks.
